To-Do List Threatens Take Over

It was one of those weeks. We’ve all had one. You know, everything needs to be done right now. Not only the regular, everyday sort of things, but also the interruptions divine appointments that worm their way into the mix.

I don’t know about you, but when the daily calendar and to-do list threaten to take over my world there is a sort of paralysis that comes over me. The demands keep pushing and try as I may to respond to each one in an orderly fashion with the utmost of decorum, there is that moment when I turn into this whimpering mess in the corner. “No more; please…, no more,” she sighed, clutching her bag of 70% dark chocolate morsels and cup of lukewarm coffee.

Pitiful, huh?

At a recent Bible study, we discussed the importance of spending time actively waiting on God.  This is not a passive, lay down on the couch, and twiddle your thumbs (or stuffing your face) kind of waiting.  Rather, it is the kind of waiting that involves remembering God’s Word and His promises; meditating on the truths we need to see at work in our lives at this very moment.  For one it was healing.  For another wisdom.  For me, strength.

He gives power to the faint and weary,
and to him who has no might He increases strength
[causing it to multiply and making it to abound].
Isaiah 40:29 AMP

When the To-Do List is so very long, it becomes even more necessary for me to stop awhile, refocus, be thankful, and receive from the One Who gives me strength.

He is faithful and He will do it.
